Husqvarna T540 IXP... Back to the Future!
If I’m not strong enough to pull myself up a tree, what’s the minimum amount of gear I can use to give myself a mechanical advantage.
I got here because I was trying trim a tree which is tall but thin so can't climb it. Regardless, this is magic and makes me want to learn how to throw a rope just to learn it.
You have awakened some type of ancient primordial drive within me. I have always been good at climbing trees and loved doing it my whole life, and now I know there is a professional way to do it. The birds are singing!
💪 get after it bud! Thank you for your support🤙
Would love to get into this. Gear is freaking expensive!
Man, I've been a professional arborist for +12 years and this made me realize I knew absolutely nothing about how to throw a rope :-). Thanks!
Francisco Campinas. Muito obrigado, pelo vídeo ! Abraços de Campinas/ Brasil.
Pg&E could never let us climb a tree like that. And im glad. This way is hard
Oh, no doubt about that! Definitely easier ways to climb in today's era. Climb safe!
That was incredibly impressive. There's a man who knows his trade.
very good
Thank you! Cheers!

Can you make a video going over the tools you use you recommend?
Absolutely, we can work on something like that!
@@BartlettArboristSupply Awesome!! I’m new to climbing, just interested for and really curious about the best beginner tools!!
I want to see what other people are doing when they can’t get a nice high tie in point lol I love watching people on here but I want to see the videos no body wants to share, let’s see the terrible jobs not the perfect ones
We can try and do something like that, however, at the moment, the channel is directed more towards informational rather than real work scenarios. That should be coming in the near future though.
@@BartlettArboristSupply sounds great but like you said real work scenarios and bet your views will double
I’m new to the open rope system I know and seen how to get the friction saver up in the truck and get my climbing road up and what not but what’s the best way to retrieve the friction saver after your done climbing
Retrieval is fairly simple. Use the appropriate retrieval cone, ball, or XSRE carabiner and the friction saver comes down to the ground. However, if you would like to soft retrieve the friction saver, there are two simple methods. The first one includes draping throw line on a branch union above the friction saver and tied to it. The second involves using the bitter end of the rope and a carabiner, it is a bit to explain but here is a link to the video that will demonstrate just that ➡️ ruclips.net/video/MokveyFAjQM/видео.htmlsi=yfEfLGS4nlI6hLJX
Do you have any videos on ascending 45 degree limbs? Flat or vertical are more intuitive but 45 degrees is challenging.
We do not have a video like that up on the channel just yet, but the simplest way to do just that is by incorporating the lanyard and flipping up, while pushing against the limb. It is a bit easier on moving rope system too.
@@BartlettArboristSupply thanks for responding.
Zigzag is best. The apprentice stows it anyway.
Which saddle are you wearing? Any recommendations? For saddle? Rope for srt?
The harness used in the video is the TreeMOTION Evo, that specific model is no longer available. Some good harnesses to look into: DMM Kinisi Max, Petzl Seqouia ( regular or SRT), TreeAustria Pro or Teufelberger's TreeMOTION Pro. Ropes for SRS can range from 24-strand to 48-strand. There are differences between elongation, SRS ONLY, the strand count, diameter...etc. Typically, most go with a 24-strand rope that can withstand the abuse of ascenders and can be used comfortably with both MRS & SRS climbing styles. Cousin Atrax 11.6mm, Tachyon 11.5mm, and Blue Moon 11.7mm are excellent ropes to use!

Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video. You're the only online climber I've seen using any sort of aid above your friction hitch to assist with releasing the hitch for advancing and/or descending. It's something I've contemplated incorporating but had some concerns about it possibly causing unexpected release while maneuvering around, over and through crowded canopies. What has your experience been? Have you talked about it in any videos or would you consider doing so? Thanks for the videos you put out, some helpful content.
Thanks! That friction hitch aid is Big Jim's Hitch Breaker, Abdon has been using it quite regularly at work and has had no issues with it releasing the hitch. That specific version is midline attachable, whereas others are not. It is a fantastic accessory to make climbing that much more enjoyable; it makes the hitch based system almost mechanical! We have not done a video on the hitch breaker yet, but it is now going on the list!
I got my protos helmet today but the padding on the inside looks almost worn. It's ripping all over on the edges. I purchased mone from vermeer Canada
Nice!
Awesome, thanks!
This kit has been invaluable, cost can't even be a consideration when I look at how much it's helped me and how versatile it's been for me as a beginner. Most importantly, it hasn't faltered once. The Arbormaster BRW has been impressively abrasion resistant and the hitch cord is like new, and I've used it to lower myself plenty on the hitch cord alone. Flip lined in but fully unweighted on it.
Hell yeah, plenty of other ways to configure the lanyard to ones advantage. Glad you enjoy it!
Thank you so much bro🙏🏻
Always welcome
Will try this knot but not to climb . My feet are for staying on the ground.👍🏻
Enjoy, this hitch has more uses to it than just climbing!
What size and length hitch cord are you using here? 10mm 34?
The hitch cord used in the video is Teufelberger's EpiCord 9mm 30".

good vid, thanks👍
Glad you liked it!
Are those Oakley Jawbreakers?
No, they are HeatVisual Z87+
@BartlettArboristSupply Thank you, those look great- and so much cheaper than jawbreakers. Think I'll grab a pair
What kind of setup are you using as an adjustable bridge on your belt?
This bridge is not adjustable. It is the standard webbing bridge that comes stock on the TreeAustria Pro.
Man this channel is very underrated 😂
Thank you ^^ I have a question. What the use of figuer 8 knot after colve hitch on carabiner?
It was and is still practiced by some, to include that Figure 8 as an identifier/additional stopper knot for aerial rescue purposes.
@@BartlettArboristSupply Thank you. Marking and stopper !!👍
This can be replaced by the poor man's Prusik hitch right?
